Salicylic acid alleviates salt stress on guava plant physiology during rootstock formation

ABSTRACT Guava is a fruit widely produced in Northeast Brazil, region that has sources of water with high levels salts, making it difficult for irrigated production to expand. Thus, extremely important search techniques allow the management these waters agriculture. objective present study was evaluate photosynthetic pigments, quantum yield photosystem II, and intercellular leakage electrolytes leaf blade ‘Paluma’ guava seedlings as function irrigation different salinities foliar application salicylic acid during rootstock formation phase. The experiment conducted greenhouse, using randomized block design 5 × factorial arrangement, which consisted five values electrical conductivity - ECw (0.6, 1.5, 2.4, 3.3, 4.2 dS m-1) concentrations (0, 0.8, 1.6, 3.2 mM L-1), four replicates, two plants per plot. Salicylic up 1.3 L-1 increased relative content decreased electrolyte seedlings. Foliar at concentration 1.7 attenuated effects salt stress on chlorophyll 1.6 m-1. deleterious carotenoid efficiency II were not by acid.
